Z-layered
A type specimen of the letter Z, deriving from sketches in black ink. Within the ink sketches, layers became visible by the density of the black ink. But what happens when layers become visible by colour? Should each layer contain the same shape? What happens when you use different materialities such as paper, spray paint, clay, hands or textile?
By experimenting with layering, a specimen of 50 z’s was created. Z’s differing from ones where each layer contains the same shape, ones that contain 3 very different materialities and everything in between.
